There is certainly no need to say why. So many music genres, so many concerts, festivals, just as much music as it sounds in the town during the year, gives us the right to have this label. Trdlofest - is a day full of trdelník, wine and good mood. The town of Skalica has prepared a one-day festival of traditional music, folklore and especially a rich accompanying program. Trdlofest can be understood as a celebration of our Skalica´s trdelník, and before the eyes of visitors, this delicacy is being prepared on a ridge. Maxitrdelník measured a record 208 cm in previous years! And it was Skalica´s trdelník and excellent Skalica´s wine that became the pretext for organizing the Trdlofest event, to which we kindly invite you.
The historical monuments of Skalica will be open to the public free of charge throughout the day. Visitors will be able to visit 12 cultural and historical monuments, namely: Parish Church of St. Michal Archangel + its tower, House of Culture, The protestant Church + its tower, Church of the Merciful Brothers, St George Rotunda , the Franciscan Monastery, the Franciscan Church, the Mill of the Pilárik Brothers, the Ice House and the Jesuit Church. On the day of Trdlofest, the Tourist Information Office of Skalica is open from 10:00 to 18:00. Visitors will receive information about monuments and other practical information, have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs and use free wifi access. Musica Sacra - The town of Skalica has been preparing a cycle of four concerts of church music and singing under the common name Musica Sacra Skalica since 2005. This resulted in an international festival of sacred and organ music in honor of Timothy Kyselica.
Music in the town - Cycle of concerts and festivals Music in the City Skalica was founded in 2002 by the musician and native of Skalica Ľuboš Beňa. With the support of the City of Skalica, it regularly presents artists of the blues and jazz genres from all over the world, appearing several times a year at the Music in the City event, which is one of the busiest events of its kind in the area. Skalica days Skalica as a town with a rich history, has preserved many traditions and one of them is the organization of the annual fair days called Skalica days. It is a three-day festival of music, folklore and traditions with a historical fair, which takes place every year in September. This event enjoys high attendance every year, which always exceeds 20,000 visitors.
During the three days in the city you can feel the atmosphere of traditions in the form of a historical fair and a rich programme, which includes performances by groups from Skalica and also from the popular Slovak or Czech scene. Throughout the weekend, visitors can visit 12 cultural and historical monuments free of charge, where a trained guide will give them an expert explanation of the monument. Open Vineyard cottages Day in Skalica - Since 2010, an event called Open Vineyard Cottages Day has been held regularly in the autumn of October, organized by the civic association Wine Route Záhorie. Due to its great popularity and high attendance, this event has been held twice a year since 2022, when a wine event called "Do búdy na Hurbánka" will be added in May. The winegrowers prepare not only their wine but also refreshments for the visitors and present the premises of their vineyard cottages and cellars. For winegrowers touring to wines, for winegrowers, it's not just about coming, tasting and leaving quickly, but above all about meeting, sitting and talking and at the same time tasting old supplies or even young wine.
